Italy's Piedmont region produces many of Italy's greatest wines with historic names like Barolo and Barbaresco. In this two-week course discover the wines of this region, its native grape varieites and how the land and the climate, or terroir, shape these wines.
In Week One, you'll learn about the Piedmont's often overlooked but superb white wines Gavi and Arneis as well as the native red varieties Dolcetto and Barbera which offer some of Italy's best values. In Week Two,we will delve into the aristocratic wines Barolo and Barbaresco and learn about the quality hierarchy based on vineyard location from the normale level to the cru level.
